Europe Region | Events and Congresses with Representation of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy - 2025

Over the past months, Executive Committee members of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy have represented the organisation in several events.

MEMBER ORGANISATIONS OF THE EUROPE REGION:


Third International Congress of Physiotherapy in Kosovo I 25-26 April 2025 (Pristina, Kosovo) 


Tim Németh, 2nd Vice-Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, attended the third International Congress of Physiotherapy in Kosovo on 25 & 26 April 2025. 


During his visit to Kosovo, Tim Németh was included in the formal opening speeches and presented a platform on quality indicators for a concept quality policy framework for physiotherapy. Tim, together with the president of World Physiotherapy, also met with representatives from universities in the country.



XII Congress - Order of Physiotherapists (Ordem dos Fisioterapeutas) | 8-10 May 2025 (Lisbon, Portugal)


Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, attended the XII Congress of Physiotherapy in Lisbon from 8 to 10 May 2025, the first congress organised by the Order of Physiotherapists since its implementation. 


Esther-Mary was invited to be part of the ‘honour committee’ and the welcoming ceremony where representatives from the Department of Health were present. During the congress she also facilitated a session with students.

8th Annual Conference of the Order of Physiotherapists in Romania | 5-7 September 2025 (Bucharest, Romania) 


The Order of Physiotherapists in Romania held its 8th  Annual Conference from 5-7 September 2025 focused on “Ageing with quality of life”. 


Esther-Mary D'Arcy and Carmen Suárez, Chair and 1st Vice-Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, were invited to attend and participate in the hybrid event. Carmen did a presentation on the projects developed by the Education & Research Working Group, and Esther-Mary spoke on professionalism.

Daniel Catalán and Caroline Speksnijder, from the World Physiotherapy specialty groups on Mental Health and Cancer, were part of the opening international panel of speakers.


The Order held its first gala, awarding key contributors to physiotherapy in Romania. 

The Europe Region of World Physiotherapy was honored for its support in advancing the profession.

1st National Conference of Axxon | 19-20 September 2025 (Brussels, Belgium) 


Axxon held its 1st National Conference from 19-20 September 2025 in Brussels. The Conference theme was “Transitioning to physiotherapy of tomorrow”, and was hosted by the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles).


Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, was invited to attend. Three Working Group members (2024-2026 term) from Belgium gave a presentation in their respective areas. Colleagues from Luxembourg, including the President of the Luxembourg Association of Physiotherapists, also attended the event.



5th International Conference of Albania | 12-14 November 2025 (Tirana, Albania)


Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy was invited to the 5th  International Conference of Albania. The Albanian Member Organisation held the event in Tirana from 12-14 November 2025 under the topic “Advancing Physiotherapy through science, innovation and collaboration”. 


Esther-Mary opened the Conference which featured six international speakers addressing key topics in physiotherapy.

EFPC Forum “Playing the Symphony of Inter-professional Primary Care: harmonising research and practice” | 07-08 September 2025 (Vienna, Austria)

The EFPC held its Congress in Vienna from 07-08 September 2025. Michele Cannone, Executive Committee member and Chair of the Cancer Working Group of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, spoke about the organisation's experience in proactive care, community-based programs, and primary care interventions, highlighting the UcanAct project.


The congress offered a platform to present the Europe Region’s initiatives, emphasising its commitment to bringing physiotherapists closer to patients, communities, and primary care services.
